Nerve Damage

If you were involved in an auto, truck, motorcycle, pedestrian, or bike accident and the injury caused nerve damage, you may be entitled to receive payment for your damages from the responsible party.

There are different types of nerve damage:

Autonomic nerve damage; which may lead to feeling lightheaded, constipation, profuse

sweating, sexual dysfunction, or in rare cases angina or heart attacks.

Motor nerve damage; which may lead to paralysis and muscle atrophy.

Sensory nerve damage; which can cause pain, numbness and sensitivity.

The nervous system is responsible for sending messages from the brain to the rest of the body. The spinal cord is the delivery system for these messages, so if you receive an injury to your neck or back it can damage the nerves, and when the nerves are damaged these messages cannot be sent.

Nerves can become inflamed due to the trauma from an accident. This can be very painful, and difficult to treat or control.

Nerve damage can take a long time to heal, and proper medical assessment is essential.

Diagnosis of nerve injuries can be difficult, and delay in treatment and/or diagnosis can be used by the insurance company to refuse payment of the compensation the injured person is owed.
