Concussion

One type of closed head injury is what is referred to as a “concussion”.

You do not have to hit your head to suffer a concussion. The sudden stopping of a car due to an auto accident can cause a concussion, without any direct blow to the head.

A CT Scan done too soon after an accident can miss a brain lesion. If one is not done at all, the existence of a brain injury cannot be ruled out definitively.

There is no such thing as a minor concussion. Modern medical science has found that such injuries, if left undiagnosed and/or untreated, can have life altering consequences.

Concussions can cause headaches, pain in and about the head, as well as vision disturbances in some cases. Slurred speech and loss of coordination are other symptoms that can occur. Behavior and personalities may be altered. Nausea and digestive tract symptoms can result.
